Molly Specialist Hospital offers high quality and innovative geriatric services in a suite specially designed for adult care. It is run by a team of physicians, nurses, and other caregivers who are specialists in various fields of medicine and are dedicated to the care and treatment of older adults. We also help to facilitate care with specialists in other medical fields e.g., physiotherapy, orthopaedics, etc.
Ageing is characterized by progressive degeneration of organ, system and tissues. There is decline and loss of functional reserves of the body system as well as decrease in organ mass. This impairs the ability of the body to cope with external challenges. The elderly are therefore a special population that suffers from functional limitation and disability. Protecting against the ageing process can increase healthy lifespan.
Appointment Protocol
MSH Geriatric services focus on:
- Diagnosis of medical condition
- Development of treatment and follow-up plan
- Co-ordination of management of care
- Evaluation of long-term care need of the elderly (Rehabilitative care).
The assessment of the elderly is multidimensional and this includes:
- Functional ability such as eating, dressing, bathing, controlling bladder or bowel function
- Physical health which entails assessment for nutrition, vision, hearing, fecal and urinary continence, balances and fall prevention, osteoporosis, and polypharmacy
- Cognitive and mental health such as depression and dementia
- Socio-environmental circumstances assessment.

We run a 24-hour service. All our patients should endeavour to visit our Records Dept for data capture/registration. This must however be done 30 minutes before appointment time. If you foresee a possibility that you might not be able to come for your appointment, please, endeavour to cancel the appointment 24 hours before due date.
